Dogs have always held a preeminent place in my heart. Throughout my childhood, my next door neighbors fostered puppies for a local rescue. Every single day after school, I would race from the bus stop, singing and grinning from ear to ear, right past my own house, to "the dog house" to spend my whole afternoon & evening playing with and caring for the puppies. Naturally, I took home one (or two) of the puppies with whom I bonded and negotiated with my parents to let me keep them. As a high schooler, I even helped found a rescue myself which still operates in my hometown. My adoration for and dedication for my canine companions has never left me, in fact it has led me down the path I still walk today!
My first foray into the dog show world was in 2015, when I acquired my first show dog: a red Doberman named Rockefeller. I was told that it would be very tough to successfully handle my own dog as a beginner (especially in Dobermans), therefore I thought I would just dabble in showing for fun.
Well, they were right - it was tough - but a little dabbling grew into an incredible bond with my dog and a major outlet for my passion. I owner-handled him to his Grand Championship, with multiple wins in several different sport venues.
During my early Doberman days, I already knew the next dog I wanted was a Borzoi. As I campaigned Rockefeller, I happened to meet Kay Cassella (of Konza Borzoi) and stayed in touch with her for a number of years until she was looking to place Eve...
Eve is the foundation of my kennel and one of the most wonderful Borzoi I've had the pleasure of knowing. She truly encompasses all the beautiful, unique and quirky things our breed has to offer. After she became my 2nd GCH, we bred her only twice - her first litter (a singleton) and her second litter (just two puppies). Despite producing a total of only 3 dogs, we could not have expected better quality offspring and we are blessed and grateful to continue her legacy.
I am forever a student of the breed and blessed to have multiple mentors, including but not limited to Kay Cassella (Konza) and Caryl Dumaine (Ravenna Borzoi) who have become not only great friends, but family to me. With such great partners, I've been unbelievably fortunate to start such a solid program with such a bright future.
We are located in Central Iowa and all of our dogs live in an in-home environment with loads of love!
I believe strongly that volunteering my time and talents is an important way to give back to our canine community. As of this writing I'm proud to be an active participant in the following groups:
Central Iowa Kennel Club (Show Chair)
Iowa Coursing Association (President)
Borzoi Club of Greater Omaha (Treasurer)
Borzoi Club of America (Membership Chair & Member)
Des Moines Obedience Training Club (Member)
Doberman Pinscher Club of America (Member)
